Septuagint (Lxx)

  1. From the Latin ‘Septuaginta’ which means ’70’.
  2. Commonly designated by the Roman Numerals for 70, LXX.
  3. The oldest Greek version of the Old Testament. It is traditionally said to have been translated by 70 or 72 Jewish scholars at the request of Ptolemy II.
  4. Translation begin around 280 B.C. and was completed between 200 and 150 B.C.
